On November 21, 1996, hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world mourned the loss of a great humanitarian, Dr. Verent John Russell Mills. Affectionately known as the "Father of Orphans", Dr. Mills was truly an amazing example of a life dedicated to service to the Lord. Through extreme hardship and tedious labor, his lovingkindness touched the hearts of multitudes of people in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and throughout the six continents. We are saddened by the passage of this great benefactor, teacher, spiritual mentor, and dear friend. For Dr. Mills, it was a day of victory, rejoicing and celebration. Indeed, he "fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award him on that Day" (II Timothy 4:7-8).
